Proceedings of the meeting of the Mayor and Board of Aldermen of the City of Breaux Bridge held at the City Hall, 101 Berard Street, at 6:00 P.M. on Tuesday February 9, 2021.

Mayor Ricky Calais called the meeting to order, the invocation and Pledge of Allegiance were recited.

Preset: Ryan Breaux, Ernest “E.J.” Ledet, Neil Melancon, and Eddy LeBlanc

Absent: Scotty Borel

Monthly budget-to-actual comparisons on the General Fund, Sales Tax Funds, Park and Recreation Fund, and Utility Funds were distributed to the Councilmen and Mayor.

Upon motion of Neil Melancon, duly seconded by Ernest Ledet and unanimously carried, the Board of Aldermen approved the addition of one item to the agenda:
            #12. Introduce Ordinance #2269 (An ordinance of the City of Breaux Bridge, Louisiana to amend and restate Chapter 13.5 of the Code of Ordinances by the repeal, amendment, revision, enactment, and/or re-enactment of Sections 13.5-1 through 13.5-99 of regarding the City Historic District and City Historic District Advisory Commission, and with regard to Main Street Program and matters related thereto)

A Rule to Show Cause for 1115 Grant Street was presented.  Compliance Coordinator, Bianca Faulk reported that the structure located at 1115 Grant Street is in a dilapidated condition.  Inspector, Mr. Richard, agreed that the structure was unsafe and a hazard and recommended it be condemned and demolished. Mr. Cooney referenced pictures that depicted plumbing and electrical disrepair as well as significant structural issues.

Mr. Bart Hebert, City Attorney said that, by law, a minimum of ten days must be granted to give the property owner the chance to respond.

Upon motion of Neil Melancon, duly seconded by Eddy LeBlanc and unanimously carried, the Board of Aldermen approved the recommendation of Mr. Richard to condemn the structure and, if not brought up to code, approved that it be demolished after ten days.

Upon motion of Ernest Ledet, duly seconded by Ryan Breaux and unanimously carried, the Board of Aldermen approved the minutes of the January 12, 2021 City Council Meeting.

The following notice was read aloud by Mayor Calais: Notice: The draft Storm Water Management Plan Annual Report for the City of Breaux Bridge is available for review by citizens at City Hall, 101 Berard Street, Breaux Bridge, Louisiana.  All comments should be directed to Joe Guidry at (337) 332-8517 or jguidry@breauxbridgela.net. Comments are due to Mr. Guidry no later than February 19, 2021.

Upon motion of Ernest Ledet, duly seconded by Ryan Breaux and unanimously carried, the Board of Aldermen approved the recommendation to appoint Amanda Landry to the Planning and Zoning Commission.

Upon motion of Ryan Breaux, duly seconded by Neil Melancon and Eddy LeBlanc and unanimously carried, the Board of Aldermen approved the nomination of Ernest Ledet to be the Mayor Pro-tempore for the year of 2021.

Upon motion of Neil Melancon, dully seconded by Ernest Ledet and unanimously carried, the Board of Aldermen approved the introduction of Ordinance #2269 (An ordinance of the City of Breaux Bridge, Louisiana to amend and restate Chapter 13.5 of the Code of Ordinances by the repeal, amendment, revision, enactment, and/or re-enactment of Sections 13.5-1 through 13.5-99 of regarding the City Historic District and City Historic District Advisory Commission, and with regard to Main Street Program and matters related thereto).

Upon motion of Neil Melancon, duly seconded by Ernest Ledet and Ryan Breaux, and unanimously carried, the Board of Aldermen adjourned the meeting.
