In 1996 funds were raised to build the life size bronze sculpture in memory of Scholastique Picou Breaux, who founded Breaux Bridge on August 5, 1829. The sculpture stands today in Veteran’s Park. Breaux Bridge is one of only two communities in the United States to be founded by a woman.
